Full Biography

CHRIS WILSON

Chris Wilson was born January 8, 1969, in Richardson, Texas, where he starred in football and track at Richardson High School before earning a scholarship to one of the most storied programs in college football history.

At the University of Oklahoma from 1987 to 1991, Wilson became one of the Sooners' most decorated linebackers of his era. He lettered all four years, recorded 303 career tackles, was named team captain twice, earned three-time second-team All-Big Eight Conference honors, was a third-team All-American as a junior, and landed on the watch list for the 1991 Butkus Award — given annually to the nation's best linebacker. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Oklahoma in 1992.

Wilson was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 12th round of the 1992 NFL Draft. After his playing career, he quickly transitioned into coaching — a decision that would define the next three decades of his life and take him to virtually every level of American football.

His coaching journey started in the college ranks at Indiana State in 1993 and built steadily upward. By the time he returned to his alma mater as defensive ends coach at Oklahoma from 2005–2009, he had already proven himself one of the country's most effective developers of defensive line talent.

At Mississippi State, Wilson served as both defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, where he tutored Fletcher Cox — who earned All-American honors in 2011 and was selected 12th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. That performance directly led to Wilson joining the Eagles organization himself.

With the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016–2018, Wilson served as defensive line coach and was part of the staff that delivered the franchise's first-ever championship — a Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots. He has also worked with the Arizona Cardinals, served as defensive coordinator for the Houston Gamblers and Houston Roughnecks in the XFL and UFL, and most recently held the role of interim defensive coordinator at the University of Arkansas.

Across his career, Wilson has coached at more than 12 programs spanning NCAA Division I, the NFL, and the spring football leagues — developing players who have gone on to the NFL Draft, earned All-American honors, and competed at the highest levels of the sport. Now, through Trench Masters, he is channeling that lifetime of knowledge directly to the next generation of defensive linemen.

THE RESULTS

Coach Wilson changed everything I knew about playing the position. His technique drills are the same ones he used coaching in the NFL. The level of detail is unlike anything else.
